What kinds are available?
The main ones are .com for Commercial and .net for
Network related.
For example Hatch Homes - Real Estate, has hatchhomes.com and
Alphernet - Internet Provider, has alpher.net.au
Country Code
Each country has it's own country code. For example our Domain
is wolfweb.com.au. The .au means our company is registered in
Australia. New Zealand is .nz, Indonesia is .id, the UK is .uk.
Since the Internet started in the USA, they do not have a country
code, their domains end in .com (or .net and others). Many people
register the USA extensions as well as the Australian, or just
register a .com or .net as the domain address is shorter and has
an international feel.
Restrictions
To register an Australian .com or .net Domain name, you need
to have a business or company registered in Australia that has
a similar name to the Domain name you want. For example, Frank's
Fish could not register widgets.com.au unless he also had a business
or company called Widgets registered in Australia.
These restrictions do not apply for USA Domain Names. Anyone can
register a .com , .net or .org domain name, you do not have to
have a business or company name or live in the USA.

How do I Register
a Domain Name?
We will setup and register your name for you for free, your only
cost is the Domain Name Authority registration fee. You can choose
a Web Hosting Plan or Park
your Domain for later use.
What if I already
own a Domain Name?
If you already have a domain name, parked or active, we will transfer
it free of charge.

We will register your new domain/s or make the necessary change
to your existing domain/s for you, however if you want to do it
yourself, the DNS information you will need is:

It's helpful to assign us as the Technical Contact, our NIC handle
for Australian Domains (.com.au, .net.au, etc.) is: LD258-AU For

If you are transferring your domain through a managed Network
Solutions account that requires an Account Number and Account
Password, you will need to change the DNS information to the following:

Waiting for a Domain
to start working
You might not be able to view your domain/s at your new location
on our servers immediately because your ISP (Internet Service
Provider) might have the old DNS infomation cached in their network.
This normally would take around 1-3 days for this caching to update,
however new visitors to your site will see the new location. |
